(Maire SpA v. LCC EuroChem North-West-2)
UNITED KINGDOM 1 July 2026 Maire SpA
Eurochem, a Russian entity, obtained a judgment in a Russian court against Maire, an Italian company. The High Court granted Maire’s application for an injunction restraining Eurochem from pursuing proceedings in Russia to enforce the judgment, finding that the judgment had been obtained in violation of the arbitration clause in the parties’ contract, which provided for arbitration of disputes in ICC arbitration in London.
Related court proceedings: The court discusses measures in aid of arbitration (e.g., anti-suit injunction). This topic also includes the issue of the relationship between the Convention and the recognition of a foreign judgment on the validity of the arbitration agreement.
